The Milk Run one of the three main fundraising events that Owen’s Milk Money holds each year. This year’s run will take place on Saturday, August 26th, 2017. The run starts at 10am on the north side of Russian Jack Springs Park. Starting from the soccer fields off Pine Street.
We hope to generate funds, raise awareness about breastfeeding and this memorial fund, and also celebrate Owen’s “angel day” and National Breastfeeding month in August. Russian Jack Park is a special place for our family. We have enjoyed many family walks, strolls, skiing excursions, and parties there. I have fond memories of nursing Owen next to the stream one day while big brother Andrew threw rocks in the water. We hope your family will join us in this fun event!
The 2k is a simple “out and back” that is on paved trails and grass. Starting at the soccer fields, it heads along the bike trail to the tunnel under Debarr road, which is the turn around point. The course is mostly flat with a couple of hills. It’s great for any kind of stroller.
The 5k uses both paved and dirt trails, winding in a “figure 8” through the forest on both sides of the park. The terrain is a fun mix of flats and rolling hills. If you want to take a stroller on the 5k, you should use a jogging style one that has the bigger wheels and some shock absorption: you’ll need it over a couple of short rooty sections on the course. We’ve taken our double Chariot stroller on the course and it did fine. A GPS track of the 5k course is displayed in red below.
