The Milk Run is one of the three main fundraising events that Owen’s Milk Money holds each year. With everything going on in 2020, we’ve decided to try a virtual run this year. The details are below.
We hope to generate funds, raise awareness about breastfeeding and this memorial fund, and also celebrate Owen’s “angel day” and National Breastfeeding month in August. Russian Jack Park is a special place for our family. We have enjoyed many family walks, strolls, skiing excursions, and parties there. I have fond memories of nursing Owen next to the stream one day while big brother Andrew threw rocks in the water. We hope your family will join us in this fun event!
Milk Run 2020
Due to the uncertainty around large events during the pandemic, we’ve decided that the most responsible thing for this year is to go virtual. There are two ways to participate:
Option #1 Buy a T-Shirt on Bonfire
We have a new design this year! All the proceeds after costs will go directly to the to the fund. You can pick sizes and from a menu of several colors.
Option #2 Donate Directly to Owen’s Milk Money via the Providence Website
Follow the link below. Please choose the designation for the “Owen Harmon Memorial Fund” in the drop down menu.
Hitting the Road/Trail/Treadmill
Whichever way you go, we are thankful for your support and honored you can join us (virtually)! The run was scheduled for August 23rd, but you can run anytime. You can run on the Milk Run course (see map below) or anywhere you would like! Please follow social distancing guidelines and be safe out there: you are participating entirely at your own risk. We’d love it if you share a picture of you participating on our Facebook page!
Want a 2020 Bib?
If you like, you can download and print a bib following the links below. It will open with Microsoft Word or any other program that can open those files (like Google Docs, for example). You can put your name or any number you like on the bib. Then print, cut it to size, pin it on and go!
The 2k is a simple “out and back” that is on paved trails and grass. Starting at the soccer fields, it heads along the bike trail to the tunnel under Debarr road, which is the turn around point. The course is mostly flat with a couple of hills. It’s great for any kind of stroller.
The 5k is a “cross-country” style course uses both paved and dirt trails, winding in a “figure 8” through the forest on both sides of the park. The terrain is a fun mix of flats and rolling hills. It’s possible to take a jogging stroller on the course, but there are plenty of bumps and roots. We did fine with our double Chariot stroller, but use your best judgement. A GPS track of the 5k course is displayed below.
We have t-shirts available for purchase with the following design:
We’d like to give a gigantic thank you for our 2019 Sponsors! Please consider giving them your business and thank them for supporting Owen’s Milk Money!
